The 2023 Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer awards saw over 100 top venues across the country take part. Who will be fighting out in the shortlists for the 2024 awards?
The Buyer is once again teaming up with Star Wine List to host the UK edition of its global series of events that look to reward and highlight the best wine restaurants and their teams around the world.
The Star Wine List of the Year UK with The Buyer is the opportunity for the best operators, and sommeliers in the UK to shine. The chance to enter your restaurant or wine bar’s list and see how it compares and performs against your peers in the sector.
The UK edition of the Star Wine List of the Year is being held in partnership with The Buyer with the awards ceremony on March 4 2024
All entries will once again be independently assessed by a panel of leading and award-winning sommeliers based around the world.
How to register
Registrations are now open for all restaurants and wine bars in the United Kingdom, free of charge.
Just follow this link, fill in your details and send your wine list to wine@starwinelist.com. Last day to enter: January 21, 2024
Categories and criteria
The Star Wine List awards around the world are a combination of categories that appear in all its events, combined with individual categories that are more relevant for any particular country – like the UK. Restaurants can either enter their lists to be considered for multiple categories or can be tailored to enter a particular category.
The criteria for the jury are straightforward but not simple: Vote for the most exciting wine list representing the category.

INTERNATIONAL CATEGORIES:
• Grand Prix, presented by Bibendum
The best list overall
• Best Long List
For wine lists with more than 600 references.
• Best Medium-Sized List, presented by Luigi Bosca
200-600 references.
• Best Short List
<200 references.
• Best Austrian Wine List, presented by Austrian Wine
• Best Sparkling Wine List, presented by Nyetimber.
• Best California Wine List
• Best By the Glass List
• Best Newcomer List
• Sustainable Wine List
For the Sustainable Wine List category, not only the wine list is evaluated, but also the stated actions of the venue, as described through a questionnaire in the application.
LOCAL CATEGORIES:
• Best New Zealand List, presented by New Zealand Wine
Other local categories will be announced in due course. It is still possible to sponsor and create a new relevant category in the awards.
The winners in the international categories will qualify for the Star Wine List International Final in June 2024, where they will face the winners from other countries and continents.
